A Tradition Takes Root
What began as a small orchard in Scott Township has grown into a full-fledged seasonal theme park of sorts. Apples continue to be the main attraction- 30 varieties among 20,000 trees- but now visitors can build a whole day around an apple picking outing. Features at the farm this include live music and axe throwing in the cider garden. The latest additions join a whole crop of family-centric activities.
Seeing Red
Lakeland Orchard and Cidery takes pick-your-own strawberries to another level for its Strawberry Festival. Every Thursday through Sunday from May 27 to June 25 take a scenic wagon ride to the rolling strawberry fields to pick your own fresh fruit. Afterward, enjoy over 15 farm-themed attractions including the new Berry Blender amusement ride. There’s also live music and plenty of food.

Summer Fest from June 29-July 23 features live lumberjack shows every weekend. Enjoy pours from local wineries and breweries while listening to live music. Orchard food turns blue highlighing everything from blueberry lavender lemonade to blueberry donuts and blueberry lavender ice cream.
A Blooming Good Time
The Blooms and Butterfiles season begins July 27 and continues through August 27. Stroll five acres of Sunflowers, Zinnias, Snapdragons, Poppies and more to take some spectacular selfies and cut your own bouquet to take home. There will also be live music and cold hard cider to enjoy. A scenic wagon ride transports you to the flower fields and vegetable garden for a pick-your-own experience. Visit the Butterfly House and surround yourself with hundreds of beautiful butterflies all aflutter.
A Bushel of Fun
Apple picking gets underway on August 31. A High-Density Trellised System of planting means the apples are easier to pick because they’re in close proximity and near the ground. Discerning apple lovers can choose the variety they love best, from the early Zestar, Premier Honeycrisp and Blondee to the end-of-season Suncrisp, Northern Spy and Golden, plus everything in between! Pick a quarter of a peck or up to half a bushel. The orchard is open until October 29, weather permitting.
A Lot to Do and See
A day at the farm is full of activities and attractions for all ages. New additions include the Berry Blender, a fresh twist on the classic Scrambler ride and the Lakeland Express. Hop on board for a one-mile train ride around the farm. Older visitors will enjoy an expanded Cider Garden, which serves refreshing hard cider. The area also features an Axe Throwing activity where participants can try their luck. Enjoy live music every weekend from different bands representing a variety of genres, from country and bluegrass to folk and rock. Returning favorite attractions include the Country Carousel. The 1952 Alan Herschel Carousel originally entertained crowds at the Catskill Game Farm in New York. It was in storage until it was purchased, repaired and restored especially for Lakeland Orchard and Cidery. Cow Train Express, a Giant Corn Box, Pumpkin Bounce, Duck Races, Yard Games and a Goat Corral round out the available offerings. There are a number of festival food options to satisfy every appetite. Visitors can enjoy Kevin’s Barbecue and The Burger Shop or a variety of snacks and refreshments in Orchard Café.
Lakeland Orchard and Cidery is open Thursday through Sunday plus Labor Day and Columbus Day.
