For health and beauty essentials, snacks and more, Rite Aid is a short two block walk from Hotel Anthracite. Slightly farther, but still within walking distance (0.5 miles), is a plaza with several retail options. Anchor stores include Weis supermarket and Peebles department store. Here you’ll also find CVS, Dollar Tree an AT&T store and a Verizon location. In the same vicinity there are three retailers offering automotive parts and accessories- NAPA Auto Parts, Advanced Auto Parts and AutoZone. Fine Wine and Good Spirits, operated by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, has a location in Carbondale that is 1.4 miles from Hotel Anthracite on Business Route 6.
For the Bargain Hunter
Sugarman’s Marketplace is a large indoor flea market that is open weekends throughout the year. Vendors offer a variety of new and used merchandise, from tools and toys to collectibles, clothing, electronics and more. There is also a food court and special events held regularly. The shopping area is set up like a small town with named streets and numbered stores- making locating vendors relatively easy. Sugarman’s Marketplace is about seven miles from Hotel Anthracite on Business Route 6 (Scranton/Carbondale Highway).

Take Route 6 West (Casey Highway) to Interstate 81 South. Just off the Montage Mountain Road exit (22 miles from Hotel Anthracite) you’ll find The Shoppes at Montage. The open-air shopping center boasts some high-end retailers, outlet stores and uncommon chains. Women’s fashion options include Chico’s, J Crew Factory Outlet, Lane Bryant, Loft, Motherhood Maternity, New York and Company, Talbot’s and White House/Black Market. Places such as Christmas Tree Shops and That, Plow and Hearth and Yankee Candle offer unique gift items and home décor. For men’s apparel, you can shop stores such as American Eagle and Jos. A. Bank.
